This work is an experimental study of the hardness curve in the zone of diffusion for the gas nitriding process of 31CrMoV9 steel. 12 samples were subjected to gas nitriding at three different 1.8519 - 31crmov9 steel from stockSoft annealing:steel 1.8519 is soft annealed at 680°C - 720°C. This is followed by slow cooling. Here, an annealing hardness of max. 248 HB can be achieved. Hardening:the hardening process takes place at 840°C - 880°C and is carried out in oil or water. Tempering:the material number 1.8519 is tempered at 570°C - 680°C with subsequent cooling in the air.
